Current Appointments

  • Board member of the County Library Joint Powers Authority
  • Member of Cupertino's Economic Development Team
  • Board member of Cupertino Community Services
  • Cupertino's Representative to the Santa Clara County Cities Association

Accomplishments of which I was a key contributor

  • Approval of a Teen Center to be added to the Cupertino Sports Center
  • Approval of the Feasibility Study and CEQA report for the Stevens Creek Trail
  • Begin construction of the Stevens Creek Trail
  • Completion of the Cupertino reaches of the Saratoga/San Tomas Creek Trail
  • Development of CCS affordable housing and social service center
  • Acquisition of the mobile skate park
  • Approval of the library plan and architecture
  • Design of the new Civic Center plaza, integrated with the new library
  • Creation of the Lunar New Year Unity Parade
  • Creation of the We Value Youth committee
  • Improved communication through newspaper translation service
  • Extended the library hours
  • Got more and better self-checkout machines - now 20% of circulation
  • Adopted the "Moving In for Less" program that makes apartments more affordable for teachers
  • Down payment assistance program for teachers in Cupertino
  • New safe embedded warning light crosswalks throughout Cupertino
  • Traffic improvements on Bubb Road, including crossing guards and right-turn lane at McClellan
  • Initiated Union Pacific/De Anza Trail Regional Task Force
  • Helped minimize impact on hillsides through the Environmental Review Committee
  • Every project coming through council has a walkability review – walkability added to several projects
  • Converted HP plans to mixed use
  • Lobbied in Sacramento to help with housing and our budget

  • Opened pedestrian access to Kennedy Jr. High fields
  • Approval of new park at City Center
  • Approval of Redevelopment Agency for Vallco area
  • Added Farmer's Market to Cupertino
  • Increased Inclusive Zoning ordinance to 15%
  • Dramatic shift to mixed-use zoning and projects
  • Annexation of Garden Gate
  • Computer Recycling program started with Apple Computers

Key short term goals

  • Maintain Fiscal Strength
  • Retain good retail businesses in Cupertino, encourage new businesses to come serve our residents
  • More housing for people that work in Cupertino
  • Build a great library and make it the new center of Cupertino
    • Combine the opportunities at the Town Center office complex with the new library
    • Create a parkway connecting De Anza Boulevard to the new library
    • Include pedestrian retail like coffee shops and outdoor cafes
    • Bring community festivals and the Farmers Market to this parkway to help make it the place to walk in Cupertino
  • Enforcement of ridgeline and hillside ordinances
  • Ensure that all projects are walkable
  • New master plan for McClellan Ranch and Blackberry Farm
    • Include Stevens Creek Trail
    • Preserve Stocklmeier orchard and home
    • New Living History Center
    • Involve the neighbors
  • Continue to make progress on the trails
    • Stevens Creek Trail reach A construction
    • Park for Rancho Rinconada
    • Regnart Creek Trail
